The thirty-fifth session has been resumed today to consider the request addressed on 20 April 1981 to the President of the General Assembly by the President of the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea [A/35/803]. Since the consideration of agenda item 20 was concluded on 10 December 1980 [89th meeting], after the adoption - of resolution 35/116, the President of the General Assembly convened a meeting on 4 May with the chairmen of the regional groups to suggest that a plenary meeting be held today to consider the request of the President of the Con- ference. 2. May I take it that in the present circumstances the Assembly agrees to consider at this stage the request submitted by the President of the Conference? It was so decided. 3. The PRESIDENT (interpretation from French): A revised draft decision has been submitted in document A/35/L.60/Rev.l. This draft is in keeping with the recommendation adopted by the Conference and reflected in its record of the 149th meeting of the Conference, on 16 April 1981. 4. In accordance with rule 153 of the rules ofprocedure of the General Assembly, the Fifth Committee will meet immediately to deal with the administrative and financial implications of the draft decision and will report to the Assembly this afternoon.
