6. Election of the Vice-Presidents of the General Assembly
Pursuant to rule 31 of the rules of procedure, we shall now proceed to the election of the Vice-Presidents of the General Assembly who are to be chosen in such a manner as to ensure the representative character of the General Committee.
3. All members ofthe General Assembly are eligible in this election except those already represented in the General Committee-namely, those countries whose representatives have been elected to the presidency ofthe General Assembly or to the chairmanships of the Main Committees.

4. In accordance with paragraphs 2 and 3 ofthe annex to resolution 33/138 of 19 December 1978, the 21 Vice- Presidents shall be elected according to the following pat- tern: group A-six representatives from African States; group B-five representatives from Asian States; group C-one representative from an Eastern European State; group D-three representatives from Latin American States; group E-one representative from a Western Euro- pean or other State; group F-five representatives from the permanent members of the Security Council.
5. In accordance with paragraph 16ofGeneral Assembly decision 34/401, election of the Vice-Presidents of the Gen- eral Assembly by secret ballot will be dispensed with when the number of candidates corresponds to the number of seats to be filled. In other words, whenever the number of candidates in a given group corresponds to the number of seats to be filled in that group, those candidates will be declared elected. We shall proceed accordingly.
6. With the permission of the Assembly, I shall read out the candidates nominated by each group: group A- Mauritius, Niger, Senegal, Tunisia, Zaire and Zimbabwe; group B-Bahrain, Malaysia, Mongolia, Oman and Thai- land; groupC-Romania; group D-Bolivia, Ecuador and Honduras; group E-Greece.
7. Since the number of candidates nominated by each group corresponds to the number ofseats to be filled in that group, I declare those candidates elected, in addition to the five permanent members of the Security Council.

The General Committee for the thirty-fifth session of the General Assembly has therefore been fully constituted in accordance with rule 38 ofthe rules of procedure.
