Before calling on the first speaker this morning in the debate on agenda item 150, I wish to express to the Government and people of the Union of Soviet SOcialist Republics, on my own behalf and on behalf of all the Members of the Assembly, our condolences on the tragic loss of life and damage caused by the accident at the nuclear-power plan~ in ChernObyl. I also ask the representative of the Union of Soviet SOcialist Republics to convey our condolences to the relatives of the victims.
