120. Scale of assessments for the apportionment of the expenses of the United Nations (A/52/785/Add.5)
In a letter contained in document A/52/785/Add.5, the Secretary-General informs the President of the General Assembly that, since the issuance of his communications dated 4 February, 23 and 31 March, 27 April and 6 May 1998, Nicaragua and Rwanda have made the necessary payments to reduce their arrears below the amount specified in Article 19 of the Charter.
May I take it that the General Assembly duly takes note of this information?

In his note contained in document A/52/101/Rev.1/Add.1, the Secretary-General informs the General Assembly that he has received notification of the resignation of Mr. José Antônio Marcondes de Carvalho (Brazil) from the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions. Accordingly, the General Assembly will be required at its current session to appoint a person to fill the unexpired portion of the term of office of Mr. Marcondes de Carvalho, that is, until 31 December 1998.
In order to enable the General Assembly to take the required action, it will be necessary to reopen consideration of sub-item (a) of agenda item 17, entitled “Appointment of members of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions”.
May I take it that the General Assembly, on the proposal of the Secretary-General, wishes to reopen consideration of sub-item (a) of agenda item 17, entitled “Appointment of members of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions”?
Members will recall that at the fourth plenary meeting, on 19 September 1997, the Assembly allocated this sub-item to the Fifth Committee.
May I take it that the Assembly again wishes to allocate this sub-item to the Fifth Committee?

In his note contained in document A/52/102/Rev.1/Add.1, the Secretary-General informs the General Assembly that he has received notification of the resignation of Mr. Evgueni Deineko (Russian Federation) from the membership of the Committee on Contributions. Accordingly, the General Assembly will be required at its current session to appoint a person to fill the remainder of the term of office of Mr. Deineko, which expires on 31 December 1999.
In order to enable the General Assembly to take the required action, it will be necessary to reopen consideration of sub-item (b) of agenda item 17, entitled “Appointment of members of the Committee on Contributions”.
It was so decided.
Members will recall that at the fourth plenary meeting, on 19 September 1997, the Assembly also allocated this sub-item to the Fifth Committee.
