124. Scale of assessments for the apportionment of the expenses of the United Nations
I should like to draw the attention of the General Assembly to document A/58/688/Add.8, in which the Secretary-General informs the President of the General Assembly that, since the issuance of his communications contained in documents A/58/688 and Add.1 to Add.7, Suriname has made the necessary payment to reduce its arrears below the amount specified in Article 19 of the Charter.
May I take it that the General Assembly duly takes note of the information contained in that document?

8. Organization of work, adoption of the agenda and allocation of items Fourth report of the General Committee (A/58/250/Add.3) Note by the Secretary-General (A/58/239)
In the first paragraph of the report contained in document A/58/250/Add.3, the General Committee recommends to the General Assembly that an additional item entitled “International Year of Physics, 2005” be included in the agenda of the current session.
May I take it that the General Assembly decides to include this additional item in the agenda of the current session?
It was so decided.
The General Committee further recommends that the additional item be considered directly in plenary meeting.
May I take it that the General Assembly decides to consider this item directly in plenary meeting?
It was so decided.
I should like to inform members that the item entitled “International Year of Physics, 2005” becomes item 169 on the agenda of the current session.
In paragraph 2 of the same document, the General Committee decided to recommend to the General Assembly that an additional sub-item, entitled “Appointment of a member of the International Civil Service Commission”, be included as a sub-item of agenda item 17, “Appointments to fill vacancies in subsidiary organs and other appointments”.
May I take it that the General Assembly decides to include this additional sub-item as a sub-item of agenda item 17 in the agenda of the current session?

The General Committee further decided to recommend to the General Assembly that the additional sub-item be allocated to the Fifth Committee.
May I take it that the General Assembly decides to allocate this sub-item to the Fifth Committee?

I should like to inform members that the new sub-item becomes sub-item (j) of agenda item 17 on the agenda of the current session.
The General Assembly will now take up a request submitted by the Secretary-General in document A/58/239. As indicated in his note, the Secretary- General has the honour to request, pursuant to rule 15 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly, the inclusion in the agenda of the fifty-eighth session of the General Assembly of an additional item entitled “Financing of the United Nations Operation in Burundi”.
In view of the urgency of this request, and unless there is an objection, may I take it that the General
Assembly agrees that the relevant provision of rule 40 of the rules of procedure, which would require a meeting of the General Committee on the question of the inclusion of this item on the agenda, could be waived?
I see no objection.

May I take it that the General Assembly, on the proposal of the Secretary- General, wishes to include in the agenda of the current session an additional item entitled “Financing of the United Nations Operation in Burundi”?
It was so decided.
This item is therefore included as item 170.
In his note, the Secretary-General further requests that the item be allocated to the Fifth Committee. May I take it that the General Assembly, as requested by the Secretary-General, wishes to allocate this item to the Fifth Committee?
It was so decided.
The Chairman of the Fifth Committee will be informed of the decisions just taken by the General Assembly.
