Expression of condolence to the victims of the terrorist attack in Minya, Egypt
On behalf of the members of the Security Council, I wish to emphatically condemn the terrible terrorist attack on innocent civilians that took place in Minya, Egypt. The members of the Security Council express their heartfelt condolences to the families of the people who were killed, as well as their sympathies to the Government and the people of Egypt. I now ask the Council to rise and observe a minute of silence on behalf of the victims.

In accordance with rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure, I invite the representative of Somalia to participate in this meeting.
The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda.
Members of the Council have before them document S/2017/452, which contains the text of a draft resolution submitted by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Nothern Ireland.
I wish to draw the attention of Council members to document S/2017/408, which contains the report of the Secretary-General on Somalia.
The Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it. I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now.
A vote was taken by show of hands.
The draft resolution received 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 2355 (2017).
