Members are aware that the General Assembly has before it iwo draft resolutions, namely, A/39/L.6 and L.7/Rev.1. 2. I have been informed that extensive consulta- tions have been taking place with regard to the item

now before us. The sponsor of draft resolution A/39/L.7/Rev.l has indicated that, as a result of those consultations, it wil! riot press for a vote on that draft resolution at this time. Therefore, for the present, the Assembly will be asked to take a decision on draft resolution A/39/L.6 only.
3. I wish to express my gratitude to all the delega- tions involved in the consultations which have led to this result.
4. May I take it that the Assembly wishes to adopt draft resolution A/39/L.6 by consensus? The meeting rose at 11.15 a.m.
Draft resolution A/39/L.6 was adopted (resolution 39/4).
