I have the honour to inform you that the Security Council has concluded the voting procedure on the draft resolution contained in document S/2021/402, in connection with the item entitled “Protection of civilians in armed conflict”. The draft resolution was submitted by Angola, Armenia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritania, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Niger, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America and Viet Nam. The voting was carried out in accordance with the procedure set out in the letter by the President of the Security Council addressed to the Permanent Representatives of the members of the Security Council dated 27 March 2020 (S/2020/253), which was agreed upon in the light of the extraordinary circumstances caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Director of the Security Council Affairs Division has received letters from all 15 members of the Security Council indicating their national position on the draft resolution. The result of the vote is as follows: In favour: China, Estonia, France, India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, Niger, Norway, Russian Federation, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tunisia, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America and Viet Nam.

Abstaining: None.
The draft resolution received 15 votes in favour. The resolution has been adopted as resolution 2573 (2021) of 27 April 2021. The resolution, which is set out in the annex to the present letter,* will be issued as a document of the Security Council without delay.
