1 wish, first of all, to express to the representative of Canada, Mr. Barton, on behalf of all the metnbers of the Council, our appreciation for the services he performed during the month of July and the effective way he conducted the proceedings of the Council that month. I request Mr. Lapointe to convey to Ambassador Barton the gratitude expressed here today for all his efforts. 5. As there has been no other proposal, 1 take it that the Council agrees to follow the procedures I have just outlined. It was so decided.

1 would suggest that the members of the Committee on the Admission of New Members should meet immediately following the adjournment of this meeting in order to examine the application of Solomon Islands and lo prepare the Committee’s report to the Council, I would further request the Committee to submit its report to the Council at the next meeting which I intend to schedule for 10.30 a.m. tomorrow.
