S/PV.2501 Security Council

The Council is meeting today in response to a request by France, contained in a letter dated 22 November 1983 from the representative of France to the President of the Council. Members of the Council have before them document S/16179,. which contains the text of a draft resolution prepared in the course of the Council’s consultations. 2. It is my understanding that the Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it. Unless I hear any objection, I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now. A vote was taken by show of hands. The draft resolution was adopted unanimously [resolution 542 (19X?)].

The Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on the agenda.
