AS this is the first meeting of the Security Council for the month of May, I should like to pay tribute, on behalf of the Council, to His Excellency Mr. Boris Tsvetkov, Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations, for his service as President of the Security Council for the month of April 1987. Members of the Council also have before them a draft resolution, contained in document S/18881, which has been prepared in the course Of the Council's consultations. Unless I hear any objection, I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now. There being no objection, it is do decided. A vote was taken bv show of hands. In connection with the resolution just adopted on the renewal of the mandate Of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force, I have been authorised to make the following complementary statement on behalf of the Security Council: "As is known, the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (s/18868) states, in paragraph 24: 'Despite the present ouiet in the Israel-Syria sector, the situation in the Middle East as a whole continues to be potentially dangerous and is likely to remain so, unless and until a comprehensive settlement covering all aspects of the Middle East problem can be reached.' "That statement of the Secretary-General reflects the view of the Security Council." The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its, agenda. The meeting rose at 11.40 a.m. (The President)
