The PRESIDENT (interpretation from Chinese): I should like to inform the Council that I have received a letter from the representative of Croatia in which he requests to be invited to participate in the discussion of the item on the Council's agenda. In conformity with the usual practice, I propose, with the consent of the Council, to invite that representative to participate ix the discussion without the right to vote, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Charter and rule 37 of the Council's provisional rules of procedure. There being no objection, it is so decided. At the invitati £ the Presid Mr. Nobilo (Croatia) took 1 the Counci) table.
The PRESIDENT (interpretation from Chinese): The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. Members of the Council have before them the report of the Secretary-General pursuant to Security Council resolution 762 (1992), contained in documents S/24353 and Add.1. Members aiso have before them document 5/2342, which contains the text of a draft resolution prepared in the course of the Council's prior consultations. I should like to draw the attention of members of the Council to document §/24371, which contains the text of a letter dated 31 July 1992 from the Charge d'affaires ad interim of the Permanent Mission of Croatia to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General. Members of the Council have also received photocopies of a letter dated 7 August 1992 from the Charge d'affaires ad interim of the Permanent Mission of Croatia to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council, which will be issuod under the symbol S/24390. It is my understanding that the Council is ready te proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it. Unless I hear any objection, I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now. There being no objection, it is so decided. A vote was taken by show of hands. In favour: Austria, Belgium, Cape Verde, China, Ecuador, France, Hungary, India, Japan, Morocco, Russian Federation, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, Venezuela, Zimbabwe
The PRESIDENT (interpretation from Chinese): There were 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 769 (1992). The Security Council hos thus concluded the present stage of the item on its agenda. The Council will remain seized of the matter. The meeting rose at 8 p.m.
