The PRESIDENT (interpretation from French): I should like to inform the Council that I have received a letter from the representative of Croatia, in which he requests to be invited to participate in the discussion of the item on the Council's agenda. In accordance with the usual practice, I propose, with the consent of the Council, to invite that representative to participate in the discussion without the right to vote, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Charter and rule 37 of the Council's provisional rules of procedure. There being no objection, it is so decided. At the invitation of the President, Mr. Nobijo (Croatia) took a place at the Council table.

The PRESIDENT (interpretation from French): 'The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. Members of the Council have before them the further report of the Secretary-General pursuant to Security Council resolutions 743 (1992) and 762 (1992). contained in document &/24600. Members of the Council also have before them document S/24617, which contains the text of a draft resolution prepared in the course of the Council's prior consultations. In the third preambular paragraph of the draft resolution in its provisional form, the words "to cease-fire violations and" should be inserted between the word "due" and che words "in particular". I should like to draw the attentior of members of the Council to document 8/24476, which contains a letter dated 1 Nctober 1992 from the Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council. It is my understanding that the Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it, as orally revised in its provisional form. Uniess I heer any objection, I shall put the draft resolution to che vote now. There being no objection, it is so decided. A vote was taken by show of hands. in favour: Austria, Belgium, Cape Verde, China, Ecuador, France, Hungary, India, Japan, Morocco, Russian Federation, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, Venezuela, Zimbabwe

The PRESIDENT (interpretation from French): There were 15 votes in favour, The Graft resolution, as orally revised in its provisional form, has been adopted unanimously as resolution 779 (1992). The Security Council has thus cuncluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council will remain seized of the matter.
