The PRESIDENT: The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. Following consultations among members of the Security Council, I have been authorized to make the folloviag statement on behalf of the Council: "The Security Council strongly condemns the illegal detention of UNTAC personnel by elements of the Party of Democratic Kampuchea and acts of threat and intimidation against these personnel. It demands that such actions and any other hostile acts against UNTAC cease immediately, and that all parties take all action necessary to safaquard the lives and the security of UNTAC personnel throughout Cambodia. "The Council urges all the parties to abide scrupulously by their obligations under the Paris Agreement to cooperate fuliy with UNTAC and to respect all the relevant resolutions of the Security Council." The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.
