As there are no otherspeakers and no draft proposal has been submitted by any member of the Security Council, 1 think the case will be met if 1 communicate with the Committee of Good Offices and send them the 1'ecord of the discussions in the Security Council and at the same time ask them to continue thdr efforts towards the attainment of a peaceful adjustment between the parties, keeping the Security Council informed of the progress of events as they occur. Pending the receipt of such new information as would necessitate a further meeting of the Security Council, 1 now tentatively suggest, after consultation with the future President of the Security Council for the month to come, that the next meeting on this subject should be he1d on Thursday, 1 July at . 2.30 p.m. If we receive sorne other urgent matter on the subject, an earlier meeting may be convoked if necessary. If there is no objection 1 shall consider this proposaI adopted.
On Friday we have a meeting scheduled ta discuss the trusteeship of the Pacifie Islands. There has been a preliminary meeting with the committee of the Trusteeship Council on this subject and no definite agreement was reached. Therefore, 1 do not think that we will have much to do on the Pacific Islands on Friday, 25 June. For this reason, 1 propose that we put another item on the agenda for Friday. 1 have a letter from the General Assembly asking the Security Council ta take up the question of the situation in Spain and ta report to the General Assembly at its next regular session. Therefore, we shall put that item on the agenda for Friday as a
If there is no objection to this proposai, l shall consider it approved and adjourn the meeting.
The document concerning the situation in Spain was circulated on 12 December 1947 as document 8/622. As we are trying to dear the agenda of the Security Council before the regular ses!>.\on of the General Assembly, we shaIl take this question next.
