Adoption of the agenda

The agenda was adopted.

The situation concerning Western Sahara Report of the Secretary-General on the situation concerning Western Sahara (S/1999/483 and Add.1)

The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the agenda item on its agenda. The Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. Members of the Council have before them the report of the Secretary-General on the situation concerning Western Sahara, document S/1999/483 and addendum 1. Members also have before them document S/1999/556, which contains the text of a draft resolution prepared in the course of the Council’s prior consultations. In addition, members of the Council have before them two letters dated 13 May 1999 from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council, documents S/1999/554 and S/1999/555, and their annexes. There being no objection, it is so decided.

There were 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 1238 (1999). The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.
The meeting rose at 11.35 p.m.
