The President: The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. Following consultations among members of the Security Council, I have been authorized to make the following statement on behalf of the Council: "The Security Council welcomes the agreement to form a national partnership Government achieved in Iraq on ll November. "The Security Council welcomes the inclusive political process and representative outcome and encourages Iraq's leaders to rededicate themselves to the pursuit of national reconciliation. "The Security Council reaffirms its commitment to the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, and emphasizes the importance of the stability and security of Iraq for its people, the region and the international community." This statement will be issued as a document of the Security Council under the symbol S/PRST/20lO/23. The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda. The meeting rose at 5.05 p.m. 10-63573
