S/PV.9871 Security Council

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 — Session 80, Meeting 9871 — New York — UN Document ↗

Provisional

Adoption of the agenda

The agenda was adopted.

Peace and security in Africa

The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. Members of the Council have before them document S/2025/129, which contains the text of a draft resolution submitted by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it. I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now.
A vote was taken by show of hands.
The draft resolution received 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 2775 (2025). Before adjourning the meeting, as this is the last scheduled meeting of the Council for the month of February, I would like to express the sincere appreciation of the delegation of China to the members of the Council and to the secretariat of the Council for all the support they have given us. Indeed, it has been a busy month, and one in which we rallied to consensus on several important issues within our purview. We could not have done it alone or without the hard work, support and positive contributions of every delegation and the representatives of the Secretariat, including the technical support team, conference service officers, interpreters, translators, verbatim reporters and security staff. As we end our presidency, I know I speak on behalf of the Council in wishing the delegation of Denmark good luck in the month of March.
The meeting rose at 3.05 p.m.
