The delegation of Israel joined the consensus on the draft resolution just adopted because we are committed to the establishment of peace with our neighbours. We are encouraged by the recent signing of the Declaration of Principles between Israel and the Palestinians, and the Agreed Common Agenda between Israel and Jordan. The United States was pleased to join in the consensus on this resolution on cooperation between the United Nations and the League of Arab States. The first three years a draft resolution was introduced on this subject, 1981 to 1983, the United States joined in the consensus.
