The United Kingdom would like to propose a revision to the fourth preambular paragraph of draft resolution A/60/L.36. The new paragraph would read as follows:
“Gravely concerned at the deterioration in the living conditions of the Palestinian people, in particular children, throughout the occupied territory, which constitutes a mounting humanitarian crisis”.

The Secretary-General
I am delighted that Member States have approved the standing Central Emergency Revolving Fund mandated by the outcome document of the world summit. As a result of this resolution, the upgraded Fund will become known as the Central Emergency Response Fund. The Assembly’s action today ensures that in the critical realm of humanitarian assistance, the United Nations will do more and do it sooner.
