The Security Council, Noting from the report of the Secretary-General of 1 December 1972 (S/10842) that the United Nations Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus is needed to be maintained in the present circumstances, Noting that the Government of Cyprus has agreed that the Force should continue in view of the prevailing conditions in the island, 1. Reaffirms its resolutions 186 (1964), 193 (1964), 194 (1964), 207 (1965), 220 (1966), 238 (1967), 244 (1968), 254 (1968), 261 (1969), 266 (1969), 274 (1969), 281 (1970), 293 (1971), 305 (1971), and 315 (1972) and the consensus expressed by the President at the 1143rd meeting on 15 June 1972, 2. Urges the parties concerned to act with the utmost restraint and to avail themselves in a constructive manner to accelerate efforts to achieve the objectives of the Security Council, 3. Extends the period of the United Nations Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus for a further period ending 15 June 1973, in the expectation that a substantial reduction of the Force will be possible by then.
