At the 1731st meeting of the Security Council held on 17 July 1973, the application of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas for admission to membership in the United Nations had before the Security Council the report of the Committee on the Admission of New Members, requesting it to examine the application.
The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and unanimously at its 43rd meeting, held on 17 July, decided to recommend to the Security Council that the Commonwealth of the Bahamas be admitted to membership in the United Nations.
Accordingly, the Committee decided to recommend that the Security Council adopt the following draft resolution:
"The Security Council, having examined the application of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas for admission to membership in the United Nations (S/10966), recommends to the General Assembly that the Commonwealth of the Bahamas be admitted to membership in the United Nations."
