1. At the 1976th meeting of the Security Council on 1 December 1976, the application of Western Samoa (S/12245) for admission to membership in the United Nations was referred to the Committee for examination and report.
2. At its 59th meeting, held on 1 December 1976, the Committee considered the application of Western Samoa and unanimously decided to recommend to the Security Council the adoption of the following draft resolution:
The Security Council,
Having examined the application of Western Samoa for admission to the United Nations (S/12245),
Recommends to the General Assembly that Western Samoa be admitted to membership in the United Nations.
3. The Committee further decided to recommend to the Security Council that the provisions of the last paragraph of rule 60 of the provisional rules of procedure should have recourse to.
