               Resolution 1414 (2002)
               Adopted by the Security Council at its 4542nd meeting,
               on 23 May 2002

                    The Security Council,
                    Having examined the application of the Democratic Republic of East Timor for
               admission to the United Nations (S/2002/558),
                   Recommends to the General Assembly that the Democratic Republic of East
               Timor be admitted to membership in the United Nations.
