1. At the 2478th meeting, on 22 September 1983, the Security Council referred the application of Saint Christopher and Nevis for admission to membership in the United Nations to the Committee on the Admission of New Members in accordance with rule 59 of the provisional rules of procedure.
2. At its 70th meeting, on 22 September, the Committee considered the application of Saint Christopher and Nevis and unanimously decided to recommend to the Security Council that it be admitted to membership in the United Nations.
3. The Committee further decided to recommend to the Security Council the adoption of the last paragraph of rule 60 of the provisional rules of procedure.
4. Accordingly, the Committee recommends to the Security Council the following draft resolution: The Security Council, Having examined the application of Saint Christopher and Nevis for admission to the United Nations (S/15989), recommends to the General Assembly that Saint Christopher and Nevis be admitted to membership in the United Nations.
