The Security Council will now begin its consideration of
the item on its agenda.
At its 2753rd meeting, on 15 October 1987, the Council referred the
application of the Republic of Nauru to become a party to the Statute of the
International Court of Justice to the Committee of Experts for consideration and
report. The report of the Chairman of the Committee of Experts is before the
Council in document S/19213. Paragraph 2 of the report contains the text of the
recommendation which the Committee advises the Council to send to the General
Assembly concerning the conditions on which the Republic of Nauru may become a
party to the Statute of the International Court of Justice.
If there is no objection , I shall now put the Committee's recommendation to
the vote. There being no objection, it is so decided.
