Monday, June 29, 1998 — Session 53, Meeting 3898 — New York — UN Document ↗

Adoption of the agenda

The agenda was adopted.
The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. Members of the Council have before them the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations operation in Cyprus, document S/1998/488 and Add.1; and the report of the Secretary-General on his mission of good offices in Cyprus, document S/1998/518. Members of the Council also have before them documents S/1998/575 and S/1998/576, which contain the texts of two draft resolutions prepared in the course of the Council’s prior consultations. It is my understanding that the Security Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the two draft resolutions (S/1998/575 and S/1998/576) before it. If I hear no objection, I shall put the draft resolutions to the vote now. There being no objection, it is so decided.
