Adoption of the agenda

The situation concerning Iraq Third report of the Secretary-General pursuant to resolution 2001 (2011) (S/2012/535)

Under rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure, I invite the representative of Iraq to participate in this meeting. The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. Members of the Council have before them document S/2012/570, which contains the text of a draft resolution submitted by the United States of America. I should like to draw the attention of the members of the Council to document S/2012/535, which contains the third report of the Secretary-General pursuant to resolution 2001 (2011). I should also like to draw members’ attention to document S/2012/520, which contains the text of a note verbale dated 2 July 2012 from the Permanent Mission of Iraq to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General. It is my understanding that the Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it. I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now.
A vote was taken by show of hands.
There were 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 2061 (2012). The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.
