X RESOLUTION ADOPTED ON THE REPORT OF THE JOINT FIRST AND SIXTH COMMITIEE RESOLUTION ADOPTEE SUR LE RAPPORT DE LA COMMISSION MIXTE DES PREMIERE ET SIXIEME COMMISSIONS 44 ( 1). Treatment of lndians in the Union of South AfricOI The General Assembly, Having taken note of ilie application made by the Governmenr of India regarding the treat- ment of Indians in the Union of South Africa, and having considered the matter: 1 1. States that, because of that treatment, friendly relations between the two Member States have been impaired and, unless a satisfactory settlement is reached, these relations are likely to be further impaired; 2. Is of the opinion that the treatment of Indians in the Union should be in conformity with the international obligations under the agreements concluded between the two Govern- ments and the relevant provisions of the Charter; 3. Therefore requests the two Governments to report at the next session of the General Assembly the measures adopted to this effect. Traitement des Hindous établis dans l'Union Sud-Africaine L'Assemblée générale, Prenant acte de la demande formulée par le Gouvernement de l'Inde et relative au traitement des Hindous établis dans l'Union Sud-Africaine, et apres examen de la question: 1 1. Constate qu'en raison de ce traitement les relations de bonne amitié entre les deux Etats Membres des Nations Unies se trouvent altérées et risquent de s'altérer encore davantage a !'ave- nir, si un accord satisfaisant n'est pas réalisé; 2. Estime que!~ traitcmcnt des Hindom établis dans I'Union doit etre conforme aux engagements internationaux résultant des accords conclus entre les deux Etats, comptc tenu des dispositions de la Charte; 3. Invite, en conséque11ce, les deux Gouverne- ments a faire rapport, a la prochaine session de l'Assemblée générale, sur les mesures prises a cet effet.
