dom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland of 11
June 1954,ft 19 March 19566 and 3 May 1956;7 the
proposais of the United States of America made under
date of 14 January 1957 ;8 the proposais of the Union
of Soviet Socialist Republics made under date of 10
May 1955,0 27 March 1956,10 12 July 1956,11 17
November 1956,12 14 January 195713 and 24 January
1957 ;14 the proposais of the Government of India made
under date of 25 July 1956 ;15 and the proposais of
Yugoslavia of 10 July 1956 ;16 and give continued con-
sideration to the plan of Mr. Eisenhower, President of
the United States of America, for exchanging military
blueprints and mutual aerial inspection,17 and the plan
of Mr. Bulganin, Prime Minister of the Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics, for establishing control posts
at strategic centres ;18
3. Recommends fitrther that the Disarmament Com-
mission request its Sub-Committee to prepare a pro-
gress report for consideration by the Commission not
later than 1 August 1957;
4. Transmits to the Disarmament Commission the
records of the meetings of the First Committee at

which the problem of disarmament was discussed, with
the request that the Commission and its Sub-Committee
give careful and early consideration to the views ex-
pressed in those documents ;
5. Invites the Disarmament Commission to consider
the advisability of recommending that a special session
of the General Assembly or a general disarmament
conference be convened at the appropriate time.

1012 (XI). Question of Algeria
The General Assembly,
Ha1Jing heard the statements made by various dele-
gations and discussed the question of Algeria,
Having regard to the situation in Algeria which is
causing much suffering and loss of human lives,
Expresses the hope that, in a spirit of co-operation,
a peaceful, democratic and just solution will be found,
through appropriate means, in conformity with the
principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

1013 (XI). Question of Cyprus
The General Assembly,
Having considered the question of Cyprus,
Believing that the solution of this problem requires
an atmosphere of peace and freedom of expression,
Expresses the earnest desire that a peaceful, demo-
cratic and just solution will be found in accord with
the purposes and principles of the Charter of the
United Nations, and the hope that negotiations will
be resumed and continued to this end.
