Having considered the application for membership
of Ghana,
Decides to àdmit Ghana to membership in the
United Nations.

1119 (XI). Arrangements for future meetings of
the eleventh session of the General Aesembly
The General Assembly,
Recalling resolution 1109 (XI) of 15 February 1957
concerning the progress of the work of the eleventh
session and the closing date of the session,

H aving completed consideration of ail the items on
its agenda wit~ the exception of items 66 and 67,
Decides, in accordance with rule 6 of the rules of
procedure, to adjourn its eleventh session temporarily
and to authorize the President! of the General Assembly,
in consultation with the Secretary-General and with
the Member States the representatives of which are
serving on the General Committee during the session,
to reconvene the General Assembly as necessary in
order to consider further items 66 or 67.

Resolution 1120 (XI)
The General Assembly,
il aving received the report of the Secretary-Gen-
eral12 ori complîance with General Assemhly resolutions
997 (ES-I) and 1002 (ES-!) of 2 and 7 November
1956,
Recalling that its resolution 1002 (ES-I) called upon
Israel immediat~y to withdraw its forces behind the
demarcation line established by the General Armistice
Agreement between Egypt and Israel of 24 February
1949,18
Recalling further that the .above-mentioned resolu-
tion also called upon France and the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Irela:nd immediately to
withdraw their forces from Egyptian territory, in con-
formity with previous resolutions,
1. Notes with regret that, according to the com-
munications received by the Secretary-General, 12 two-
thirds of the French forces remain, all the United
Kingdom forces remain although it has been; announced
that arrangements are being made for the withdrawal
of one battalion, and no Isreal forces have been with-
-drawn behind the armistice line although a considerable
time bas elapsed since the adoption of the relevant
General Assembly resolutions ;
2. Reiterates its call to France, Israel and the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ire-
land to comply forthwîth with resolutions 997 (ES-I)
and 1002 (ES-I) of 2 and 7 November 1956;
3. Requests the Secretary-General urgently to com-
municate the present resolution to the parties con-
cerned, and to report without delay to the General
Assembly on the implementation thereof.

Resolution 1121 (XI)
The General Assembly,
H aving re~eive~ the report of the Secretary-Gen-
eral14 on baste pomts for the presence and functionîng
in Egypt of the United Nations Emergency Force,
H avinf received also the report of the Secretary-
General1 on arrangements for clearing the Suez Canal,
i. Notes with approval the contents of the aide-
mémoire on the basis for the presence and functioning
of the United Nations Emergency Force in Egypt, as
annexed to the report of the Secretary-General ;14
2. Na tes with ,. approval the progress sa far made
by the Secretary-General in connexion· with arrange-
ments for clearing the Suez Canal, as set forth in his
report;16
3. Authorizes the Secretary-General to proceed with
the. e~ploration of practical ,arrangements and the ne-
gottation of agreements so that the clearing operations
may be speedily and effectively undertaken.

Resolution 1122 (XI)
The General Assembl:y,
Having decided, in resolutions 1000 (ES-I) and
1001 (ES-I) of 5 and 7 November 1956, to establish
an emergency international United Nations Force
(hereafter to be known as the United Nations Emer-
gency Force) under a Chief of Command (hereafter
to be known as the Commander),
H aving considered and Provisionally approved the
recommendations made by the Secretary-General con-
cerning the financing of the Force in paragraph 15 of
his report of 6 November 1956,.16
1. Aitthorizes the Secretary-General to establish a
United Nations Emergency Force Special Account to

which funds received by the United Nations, outside
the regular budget, for the purpose of meeting the
expenses of the Force shall be credited, and from which
payments for this purpose shall be made;
2, Decides that the Special Account shall be estab-
lished in an initial amount of $10 million;
3. Authorizes the Secretary-General, pending the
receipt of fonds for the Special Account, to advance
from the Working Capital Fund such sums as the
Special Account may require to meet any expenses
chargeable to it;
4. Requests the Secretary-General to establish such
rules and procedures for the Special Account and make
such administrative arrangements as he may consider
necessary to ensure effective financial administration
and control of that Account;
5. Requests the Fifth Committee and, as appropri-
ate, the Advisory Commi ttee on Administrative and
Budgetary Questions, to consider and, as soon as pos-
sible, to report on further arrangements that need to
be adopted regarding the costs of maintaining the
Force,

Resolution 1123 (XI)
The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolutions 997 (ES-I) of 2 November
1956, 998 (ES-I) and 999 (ES-I) of 4 November
1956, 1002 (ES-I) of 7 November 1956 and 1120
(XI) of 24 November 1956,
Noting the report of the Secretary-General of 15
J anuary 1957,17
1. Notes with regret and concern the failure of
Israel to comply with the terms of the above-mentioned
resolutions;
2. Requests the Secretary-General to continue his
efforts for securing the complete withdrawal of Israel
in pursuance of the above-mentioned resolutions, and
to report on such completion to the General Assembly,
within five days.

Recalling its resolutions 997 (ES-I) of 2 November
1956, 998 (ES-I) and 999 (ES-I) of 4 November
1956, 1002 (ES-I) of 7 November 1956, 1120 (XI)
of 24 November 1956 and 1123 (XI) of 19 January
1957,
1. Deplores the non-compliance of Israel to com-
plete its withdrawal behind the armistice demarcation

line despite the repeated requests of the General As-
sembly;
2. Calls upon Israel to complete its withdrawal
behind the armistice demarcation line without further
delay.

Resolution 1125 (XI)
The General Assembly;
Having received the report of the Secretary-General
of 24 January 1957,18
Recognizing that withdrawal by Israel must be fol-
lowed by action which would assure progress towards
the creation of peaceful conditions,
1. Notes with appreciation the Secretary-General's
report and the measures theiein to be carried oµt upon
Israel's complete withdrawal;
2. C ails upon the Governments of Egypt and Israel
scrupulously to observe the provisions of the General
Armistice Agreement between Egypt and Isr-ael of
24 F ebruary 1949 ;111
3. Considers that, after full withdrawal of Israel
from the Sharm el Sheikh and Gaza areas, the scrupu-
lous maintenance of the Armistice Agreement requires
the placing of the United Nations Emergency Force
on the Egyptîan-Israel armistice demarcation line and
the implementation of other measures as proposed in
the Secretary-General's report, with due regard to the
considerations set out therein with a view to assist in
achieving situations conducive to the maintenance of
peaceful conditions in the area;
4. Requests the Secietary-General, in consultation
with the parties concerned, to take steps to carry out
these measures and to report, as appropriate, to the
General Assembly.

The General Assembly,
Bearing in mind its resolutions 1000 (ES-I) and
1001 (ES-I) of 5 and 7 November 1956 concerning
the United Nations Emergency Force,
Having received the report of the Secretary-Gen-
eral20 of 8 February 1957 on arrangements concernîng
the status of the United Nations Emergency Force in
Egypt,
