General Assembly-Twentieth Session
2009 (XX). Admission of the l\faldive Islands to
membership in the United Nations
The General Assembly,
Having received the recommendation of the Security
Council of 20 September 1965 that the M al dive Islands
should be admitted to membership in the United
Nations,11
Having considered the ;:ipplication for membership of
the Maldive Islands,4
Decides to admit the Maldive Islands to membership
in the United N;:itions.

ship in the Unite,d Nations
The General Assembly,
Having received the recommendation of the Security
Council of 20 September 1965 that Singapore should
be admitted to membership in the United Nations,5
Having considered the applic:1tion for membership
of Singapore,6
Decides to admit Singapore to membership in the
United Nations.

2011 (XX). Co-operation between the United
Nations and the Organization of African
Unity7
The General Assembly,
Desiring to promote co-oper:1tion between the United
Nations and the Organization of African Unity, in ac-
cordance with the purposes and principles of the
charters of the two org:rnizations,
1. Requests the Secretary-General of the United
Nations to invite the Administrative Secretary-General
of the Organization of African Unity to attend sessions
of the General Assembly as an observer;
2. Invites the Secretary-General of the United
Nations to explore, in consultation with the appro-
priate bodies of the Organization of African Unity,
the means of promoting co-operation between the two
organizations and to report to the General Assembly
as appropriate.

The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 1770 (XVII) of 29 Novem-
ber 1962 rrquesting the Secretary-General, with the
assistance of the United Nations Scientific Advisorv
Committee, in co-operation with the International
Atomic Energy Agency and in consultation with inter-
ested specialized agencies, to prepare plans and pro-
ceed with arrangements for a third international con-
ference on the peaceful uses of atomic energy,
Hmting considered the report of the Secretary-
General on the Third International Conference on the
Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy,11 held in Geneva from
31 A11gust to 9 September 1964,
1. Notes with satisfaction the contribution made by
the Third International Conference on the Peaceful
Uses of Atomic Energy to the free international ex-
change of scientific and technical information and to
expanded international co-operation in the field of the
