Reaolution, adopted on the reports of the Fourth Committee 65 the Nauruan people, the land worked out by the Phosphate Commission, l. Reaffirms the inalienable right of the people of Nauru to self-government and independence; -- 2, Calls upon the Administering Authority to take immediate steps to implement the proposal of the representatives of the Na u ruan people regarding the establishment of a Legislative Council by 31 January 1966; 3. Requests the Administering Authority to fix the earliest., possible date, hut not la ter than 3 l J anuary 1968, for the independence of the Nauruan people in accordance with their wishes ; 4. Further requests that immediate steps be taken by the Administering Authority towards restoring the island of Nauru for hahitation by the N auruan people as a sovereign nation ; 5. Reafjirms the inalienable right of the people of N ew Guinea ,and Papua to freedom and independence; 2. Notes that the Adrninistering Authority has not yet taken sufficient steps towards the full implementa- tion of the Trusteeship Agreement for New Guinea and of General Assemhly resolution 1514 (XV); 3. Calls upan the Administering Authority to im- plement fully resolution 1514 (XV) and, to this end, to fix an early date for independence in accordance with the freely expressed wishes of the people ; 4. Requests the Administering Authority to report to the Trnsteeship Council at its thirty-third session and to the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Tmplementation of the Declaration on the Granting of T ndependence to Colonial Countries and Peoples 011 the implementation of the present resolution ; 5.
