The world has been horrified by the earthquake covering an area 85 kilometres wide in the Yjmen Arab Republic. It happened at 12.15 p.m. on Monday, 13 December, lasted for 40 seconds and was followed by several smaller earthquakes. More than 200 villages were affected, 13 being completely destroyed. The number of deaths reported so far is over 2,400 and the number of injured is even higher. This catastrophe has led to the displacement of over half a million people, who are now homeless, and the number of victims is constantly increasing.
